Two crazies on Halloween
This past weekend was our annual Fall Frolic gathering here at Casa Horvath. Although we have various gatherings, usually smaller, throughout the year, Fall Frolic is our yearly "big" party...we basically invite everyone we know, have lots of food and booze, and start in the afternoon til who knows when.
Last year, the Frolic took a disapointing turn when the weather was about as crappy as it could be (rain, black skies, wind, cold) and one by one guests backed out. We still had a good time, but I was looking forward to a better weather year and more people!! Our guest list was big...about 30 people coming and even the promise of crappy weather could not deter my spirits...well, almost.
We did lose an overwhelming amount of guests due to flu-related issues: its bad this year. People were sick, people were exposed, people's kids were sick, their sitters were sick...you get the idea. It was kind of disenheartening to receive text after text throughout the day of friends and family who were unable to attend at the last minute. Glad the germs stayed away, but missed seeing all those who carried them:)
Nonetheless the Frolic was fun...it did rain pretty hard, but the weather was unseasonable warm and the rain stopped at a few points, even allowing for a campfire later in the evening. The guests who were able to make it were full of...frolic (??)...and had a great time. Little Gabey was sent home with Grammy and Grandad when they left, much to his delight. I'm ashamed to admit that I did not take a SINGLE picture...what was I thinking?? In any event, the next day involved a hike with Adams', which is something I don't get to do very often. I was even able to bring Mickey along (amazing what you can manage without a crazy child in tow!) All in all a great weekend.
But, the fun doesn't stop! Next weekend we will be heading to the Finger Lake region in NY state with Ray and Nancy and about 8 other people to do a wine tour. We are renting a large cabin on a lake, arriving Friday and staying til Sunday (Gabey will once again be visiting Grammy and Grandad.) Should be a blast and hey, maybe the weather will even cooperate...
Working on his little pumpkin...
Locust Lake St Park...great day for a hike!! (My dog is looking kind of geriatric here!)
