Summer on the Mountain

Well, we've finally joined the millions of people who take care of their own grass with the purchase of a John Deere push mower. Gabe is over the moon, and the Maiden Mow yesterday was a success, complete with his little shadow. G3 was so excited when he saw Daddy's new "tractor" that he went ripping and tearing out back to find his mower and pretty much followed Gabe around for the first 10 minutes, mimicking his every turn. I took some cute video, but its not the best quality and it takes forever to upload, so you'll just have to take my word that it was freaking adorable!

Why a push vs riding mower? Well, as Gabe says "you aren't going to get exercise riding a tractor around!" While this is true, we really only have about an acre or less to mow, and for what we pay the "grass man", the push mower will pay for itself pretty quickly, where as a riding mower wouldn't really make economical sense...

Things are looking good on the mountain here, summer is in full force, our flowers and plants are thriving despite some weird weather this year. As everyone knows, we've had a ton of rain, but this past week has been absolutely perfect weather, in my opinion. Sunny, temps in the 70s, blue skies. I can only hope it continues!

Some scenes from the mountain...

Some of the many (many) lillies we have. The lillies are one of my favorite parts of living here

Our resident toad. I have no idea if its the same one, but every summer we have a toad hanging out on the patio outside the garage door. Last night G3 met him for the first time, and ironically he was both intrigued and scared...he wanted to look but didn't want me to put him down.
And finally, for comparison sake...short child next to tall flowers...

Oh, eeeww! You touched the toad?! Braver than me girl! Your flowers and G3 are beautiful! My hubby would be quite envious of that green machine!
